Is it just us or has the news this week been particularly unrelenting? To bring some levity to our week, today’s Minute offers a few of the more lighthearted things we found to see, go, read and do this weekend.
We’re just going to say it: Watch the Game of Thrones finale on Sunday. Season 6 draws to a close with a super-sized episode followed by a really long wait for Season 7. Haven’t caught the GOT bug? Consider it your summer binge-viewing. You can watch every episode through HBO apps and other on-demand services, so what are you waiting for? An invitation to the Red Wedding?
We all know gourmet food trucks are a thing now, because who doesn’t like eating a $7 artisan taco handed to you through a window? The folks at Parnassus Books, an independent bookstore in Nashville, recently traded tacos for titles with Pegasus (Peggy, for short), a royal-blue bookmobile that’s rolling up to farmer’s markets and street festivals this season. Not in Nashville? Follow @ParnassusTruck on Twitter for fun updates about book life on the road.
Speaking of books, have you finished The Nest, our mutterReads Book Club pick for June? If so, and if you’re in the mood for another novel that explores dysfunctional family relationships, pick up a copy of This is Where I Leave You, by Jonathan Tropper. In this story, four siblings reunite to sit shiva for their father and in so doing settle old scores, hilariously. (The movie, which stars Tina Fey and Jane Fonda, is currently streaming on Cinemax.)
Finally, we want to send a huge thank you to our new followers! We’re so excited to have you as part of our ‘hood. And if you haven’t yet signed up to join the mutterhood community, please do so here!
A note: Some of you have told us that you signed up back when we first launched mutterhood, which is great. However, we’ve since made some behind-the-magic-curtain changes and we need you to do it again. We hate to ask, but promise it’ll be worth it!
Be sure to sign up because next week, we’re having a giveaway!
